Scofield Reference Bible Deception

A major deception promoted by the judeo-christian zionists like Hagee is found in the Scofield Reference Bible in the notes for Genesis 12:2: 

12 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

² And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
³ And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

"It has invariably fared ill with the people who have persecuted the Jew - well with those who have protected him. For a nation to commit the sin of anti-Semitism brings inevitable judgment."

First off, this verse is in reference to Abram, who was not a jew. 

Second, since when is anti-Semitism a sin? No where in Scripture is this "sin" found. 

Third, since when can a nation - collectively - commit anti-Semitism? 

Fourth, jews don't descend from Shem, but from Cain/Esau, and therefore cannot be Semites. So,  how can "persecuting" the jew be anti-Semitism?

Fifth, who brings this alleged judgment upon those who "persecute" the jew? Certainly not the God of Scripture, as He says He hates Esau (Malachi 1:2), refers to the jews as being "of their father the devil" (through Cain/Esau, not Jacob/Israel - John 8:44), calls the jews the antichrists, (I John 2:18) and of the assembly of satan (the adversary) (Revelation 2:9, 3:9).

Lastly, if it has fared well with those who have protected the jew, why is the United States now in rapid decline as a nation, over $18 trillions in debt ($220 trillion if all liabilities are included)  and is being invaded with non-Whites (since the jew - Celler and Javits - promoted 1965 Immigration Act) who are turning the once great White nation into a third world cesspool? 

How well do YOU feel because your nation has "protected the jew?"

And pray tell us, how have "all the families of the earth been blessed" by the jew? The European nations, deep in debt due to Jewish control of the European Union, the Euro currency, the IMF, are collapsing - starting with Greece, to be followed soon by Spain, and Portugal with more to follow until the entire house of Jewish usury based fiat currency fails.

The one nation that told the Jews to take their banking system and stick it, Iceland, is doing just fine isn't it? So much for those who curse the jews will be cursed. The reality is the exact opposite.

Are You an Israelite Sheep or a Judeo-Christian Sheeple?

There are well over four dozen references to sheep found in the Old Covenant (Old Testament or OT) and the New Covenant (New Testament or NT) Scriptures. What is one characteristic of sheep? Sheep follow each other. 

This missive discusses the difference between true Israelite sheep and judeo-christian sheeple. Israelite sheep tend to examine the Scripture without bringing to their studies any preconceived ideas. Israelite sheep examine the biblical text, including the original Hebrew and Greek texts, especially  the original Hebrew and Greek texts, and not just the multitude of English language versions of translations; the context wherein those texts are found, use proper exegesis, and come away with an accurate interpretation of what the Scripture actually says, despite what the text says, and not what they want it to say.   

A true Christian Israelite will “prove all things, hold fast to that which is good.” I Thes. 5:17. 

Judeo-christian sheeple, on the other hand, tend to only read their bibles, if they read them at all, superficially. Rarely do they dig into the meanings of the words they read in the Greek or the Hebrew, the languages the Scriptures were written in. Having lived in four different countries, all using a different language, Spanish, Thai, Arabic and Korean, I have learned first-hand that getting a proper translation from one language to another, is not an easy process. Using the wrong word, when a different word could just as easily have been used, quite often gives a totally different meaning to the text than the intended meaning. Translating the bible from Hebrew and Greek into English is no different; wrong English words are often used, leading to entirely different understandings by the reader than what was intended by the author. Judeo-christian sheeple tend to ignore the additional meaning words used in Scripture may have, and thereby miss the true meaning of the passage. 

Judeo-christian sheeple also tend to ignore the context of the passage under examination.  For example, the book of Romans was written by Paul in the first century A.D., to Romans, not to the 21^st century Mongolians, or the Aborigines of Australia. Paul was of the tribe of Benjamin, the Romans were one of the tribes of Israel. (Judah) This is the context of Romans. Taking Paul's message to the Romans and appling it to any other non-Israelite tribe is simply error. It would be like writing a letter to a family member, and someone, outside your family, applying to themselves the contents of that letter. You would think that application to be ridiculous. But that is exactly what millions of judeo-christians do when they attempt to apply Scriptures written by Israelites, about Israelites, for Israelites and to Israelites, to any other people.

Judeo-christian sheeple also tend to look around them, at the other sheeple they associate themselves with, and don’t see many Israelites. They don’t see any mega-churches that teach that the 12 Tribes of Israel are actually the Anglo-Saxon-Scandinavian-Celtic-Germanic and kindred peoples of the world. With this limited world view, they erroneously assume the Christian Identify message can't be the true interpretation of Scripture. Jerry Falwell didn’t teach this message. Pat Robertson doesn’t teach this message and look at the mega-ministry Pat Robertson has; surely Robertson and all those millions of his followers can’t be wrong, can they? John Hagee’s Christians United for Israel is a worldwide ministry reaching millions of judeo-christian-zionists and raises millions of dollars for Israel every year. Hagee and all those millions of judeo-christians can’t be wrong, can they? 

Or can they be wrong?

Let’s examine Scripture together, shall we? 

The use of sheep as a metaphor for the people of Yahweh are used by the Psalmists, for example,  “For he is our God; and we are the sheep of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.” Pslam 95:7. “Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” Psalm 100:3 and Psalm 119:176: “I have gone astray like a lost sheep;”

The most famous of the psalms is, of course, Psalm 23: “The LORD is my shepherd,” obviously indicating that the author of the psalm, King David, himself a shepherd, also considered himself, metaphorically, a sheep. 

References to the Israelites as sheep are also found in the major prophets, such as Isaiah 53:6: “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” The image of a sheep before her shearers is used to provide us with the submissiveness with which Yahshua Christ willingly yielded to his oppressors in Isaiah 53:7: “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.”

The prophet Jeremiah refers to the Israelites as “scattered sheep” in 50:6; as “scattered, devoured sheep" with “bones broken”  by Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon in 50:17. 

The priest - prophet, in exile in the land of the Chaldeans, Ezekiel, talks of the Israelite “sheep (who) wandered through all the mountains, and upon every hill, yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.” Ezekiel 34:6. He predicts the Lord God  “will both search my sheep, and seek them out.” Ezekiel 34:11, and verse 12: “As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.”

In Micah 2:12, Yahweh uses sheep as a simile,  for the tribe of Jacob, and when referring to the remnant of Jacob "among the nations in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep” in Micah 5:8. Zechariah 13:7 refers to "scattered sheep of Judah" when the shepherd is smitten. 

Notice, every single mention of the word sheep above, taken from the OT, refers to Israelites. No other people are included. Notice particularly Pslam 95:7: "Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”

“We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.” Connect this psalm with Amos 3:2: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth;” Verse 1 of Amos 3 shows the context of this verse, i.e., who this family is: “Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought out of the land of Egypt.” Only one family did Yahweh bring out of Egypt; the family of Jacob/Israel. Only one family has Yahweh known of all the families of the earth; the family of Jacob/Israel. 

How much plainer does it have to be? If there is a problem interpreting the meaning of these verses, the problem lies with the person doing the interpretation, not any alleged difficulty inherent within the text. If there is a difficulty understanding the meaning of these verses, the difficulty is in the refusal of the student accepting  the clear meaning of the passages, not the passages themselves. 

Moving into the New Testament, the NT being the only portion of the bible many, if not most of those trapped within the judeo-christian cult actually read, we find numerous uses of sheep as a simile for the members of the family known as the twelve tribes of Israel. 

“But when he saw the multitudes, (while Yahshua went about in all the cities and villages of Judaea – see Matthew 9:35; that is the multitudes were Judaeans) he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.” Matthew 9:36

“And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.” Mark 6:34.  The context is the same as in Matthew 9:36, that is, in Judah. 

“And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.” Mark 14:27, quoting from Isa. 53:5, 10; Zechariah 13:7. 

Yahshua Christ used sheep in many of his parables, including: Mathew 18:12, 13 and Luke 15:4-6.

Christ refers to himself as “the door of the sheep,” John 10:7; as the “good shepherd,” John 10:11 and 14, that he “lay down his life for the sheep.” John 10:15. 

Who are these sheep? The Israelites of the 12 Tribes of Israel. 

Further evidence that the sheep are the Israelites of the 12 Tribes of Israel is found in Yahshua Christ’s instructions to his disciples recorded by Matthew in 10:5,6: “Go ye not into the way of the heathen, and into any city of the Samaritans enter not, but rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Judeo-christians like to ignore this Scripture, the very words of Yahshua Christ himself, explaining in clear unmistakable language to what people he was sent to: “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Matthew 15:24. Nowhere in all of Scripture is this clear statement contradicted.

I’ve had numerous judeo-christians quote Matthew 28:19, the passage they like to call “The Great Commission.” “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations ….” They say everything changed after the resurrection. That the gospel was, at that point in time, no longer limited to just the jews, (sic) but was now available to all the nations, (the KJV uses a Latin word, Gentile, which they want us to believe means non-jews) because the jews had crucified Christ and thus rejected Christ as their Messiah.” 

These same judeo-christians will also most often admit that Jesus Christ is the same "yesterday, today and forever,” but that He changed his mind on the most important message in all of history – and the gospel of salvation - which was promised exclusively to the 12 Tribes of Israel, his people, the sheep of his pasture, the one family of all the families of the earth that he knew – was now open to the vast heathens throughout  the world. 

Nothing could be further from the truth. 

Let’s take a closer look at the word nations used in Matthew 28:19, the "Great Commission" passage. The word is ethnos, (Strong’s G1484) and the meaning Strong’s gives it is; a race, as of the same habit, that is, a tribe, same nature or genus, people group. 

Thayer’s (Eighth Edition – Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament) the definition of ethnos given is: 1. A multitude (whether of men or of beasts) associated or living together, a company, a troop. Swarm. 2. a multitude of individuals of the same nature or genus. 3. Race, nation. 

When one takes this Great Commission command, in context of the entire Scripture, the race, or multitude of individuals, the nation of same habit, the tribe with the same nature, or people group is clearly the 12 Tribes of Israel, the same family called the scattered sheep in Zechariah 13:7 and Ezekiel 34:12. 

What did Yahshua command Peter to do to show his love for Christ? Feed “His sheep.” It should be clear by now who “his sheep” were. Peter, following these instructions of Christ, addresses his first epistle to “the elect sojourners of the dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia.” In tThe KJV we have: “to the sojourners scattered throughout …” Who are these sojourners scattered through the Mediterranean Sea area? James tells us they are the “twelve tribes which are scattered abroad …” James 1:1. 

What was the message of Peter to these sojourners scattered abroad? “For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.” 1 Peter 2:25

If Matthew 28:19 meant all the nations of the world, the Mongolians, the Africans, the Chinese, the Koreans, the Thais, the Cambodians, the Polynesians, all the other peoples found on the planet, then he would have used a different Greek word, allophulous, foreign, of another race, (allos - another, phulon - a tribe) the very word Luke used in Acts 10:28.  

If Matthew 28:19 meant all the nations of the world, the Mongolians, the Africans, the Chinese, the Koreans, the Thais, the Cambodians, the Polynesians, all the other peoples found on the planet, then all the apostles disobeyed the command of Christ, because none of the apostles went to any of those peoples. There is no record of any missionary journeys to any of these non-Israelite people by any of the apostles. Zero. Zilch. None. 

There is no historical record of any of the apostles writing any epistles to any of those peoples. Where is the epistle to the Chinese? The tribes of Africa? The natives of Peru?  The Mayans?  Zero. Zilch. None.

The message of Scripture is clear: “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

Christ told us “Other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: (not here in Judaea) them also I must bring and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.” These “other sheep” were the sheep scattered throughout the Adamic world, the area around the Mediterranean Sea, the very area Paul went to on his three missionary journeys. 

We were warned by Yahshua Christ himself to “beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” And that he was sending out his disciples “as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” 

We’ve been deceived by the wolves in sheep’s clothing, by false teachers, into believing that non-Israelites, non-members of the 12 Tribes of Israel, are the sheep Christ came to save.

Matthew 25 explains what is to take place in that day, that is, at the end of the age: 

³¹ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:³² And before him shall be gathered all nations: (ethnos) and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:³³ And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.³⁴ Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:³⁵ For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:³⁶ Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

He shall set the sheep – the members of the 12 Tribes of Israel – on His right hand, and all the other people, the goats, on his left hand. 

THAT is what Scripture says. Whether you like it or not, whether you believe it or not, whether or not that is not what most people believe makes NO difference: THAT is what Scripture says and the entire context of Scriptures gives witness to this fact. 

It doesn’t matter what Jerry Falwell taught; it doesn’t matter if Pat Robertson teaches another gospel, it doesn’t matter if John Hagee doesn’t agree, and it doesn’t matter that the Scofield Reference Bible teaches doctrine completely contrary to the evidence laid out within this missive.

What matters is, “what saith the Scripture?”

Flat Stone Teachers and Flat Stone Teaching

Flat Stone Teachers (FST) are those who skip over controversial passages / verses of Scripture, especially those that conflict with their current Weltanschauung.

Flat Stone Teaching is teaching that starts with a favorite passage from which an entire sermon is based and then skips from that one favorite out-of-context passage to other out-of-context passages, passages that seem to support the Flat Stone Teacher's currently held beliefs and teaching.

That is, unless one actually studies the passages in historical and biblical context and in the original - Hebrew and Greek - languages using several sources so as to conform to the Scriptural mandate of everything being supported by "two or three witnesses."

Most of the audience - and they are audiences, as they attend the "church services" to be entertained by the music director's entertainment program for that particular service - will not know or neither will they care if the teaching is as twisted as a pretzel - as long as their itching ears are scratched and the FST gets them back on their Lazy Boy, the remote and their beer before the start of their next entertainment for the day - the in season Beasts and Ball Game. And as nary a week separates one season from another now, the church goer goes from one form of entertainment to another uninterrupted.

This system has the masses worshiping the doctrine of devils, the beasts / icons of the (football) fields and the doctrine of Baal.  Meanwhile their entire culture is being destroyed and if and when they interrupt their entertainment cycle long enough to actually think about the destruction taking place around them, are completely clueless as to the cause. 

The "pastor's" flat stone teaching will keep the audience in a state of total ignorance for another week, until the next week's Judeo-Christian, ie, Scofield/Darbyism Baal doctrine of the jews being "God's Chosen" and "diversity is our strength" universalism programming is delivered.

Bring up the fact that the FST skipped right over the verse or verses that contradict what the FST was teaching, and you're immediately labeled a trouble maker, a division maker or worse. Nevermind that you can run circles around the FST and his flat stone teaching, no one wants to know what you  think.

I actually had a "leader" of a particular church tell me

The points you make seem logical – when you start with your position on Gen 3 (:15)  – but are so radically different from where I am at today that I’m not willing to simply “jump ship” so to speak and embrace them.

In other words, "how can you, even though the points you make seem logical, be right, when what you say is so radically different from what my FST teaches, and what I and everyone else believes?"

"Baaa baaa. I'm going to go with the sheeple, rather than what the Word of God says, because who are you among so many?"

Thank Yahweh that Noah, Joshua and Caleb, Jeremiah and all the rest did what Yahweh commanded them, rather than what everyone else was thinking should be done.

Scofield's False Teaching in Matthew 25

False teachings, deliberate mis-leadings and other guile are found throughout the Scofield Reference Bible. For a backdrop to this missive, other Kerux Replies has gone into more detail as to the background of Cyrus I. Scofield and his Zionist reference bible, see here and here.

One such deceptive lie is found in the footnote for Matthew 25. It reads, inter alia:

"2(25:32) This judgment of individual Gentiles is to be distinguished from other judgments in Scripture, such as ....." (page 1036 1967 edition)

First off, the word gentile was not even used by any writers of the Old or New Testament. The Greek word here (that Scofield says means "Gentiles" and is often translated "Gentile" by the KJ translators) is Strong's # 1484 ethnos - meaning a race, a people, nation; the nations. The word ethnos does not mean "gentile." Clifton Emahiser explains the misapplication of the word gentile in the Bible here. See also Bertrand Comparet's Who Are the Gentiles?

The factual short version is this:

"No Bible writer ever used the term (gentile) as there is no such word in Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek. The first time that the Latin word “gentile” ever appeared in any Bible is when Jerome translated the original manuscripts from Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek into Latin! Secondly, and more importantly, in Jerome’s day, the Latin term “gentile” (gentilis) never had today’s corrupted definition meaning “non-Jew”. The Junior Classic Latin Dictionary published by Wilcox & Follett Company in 1945 defines gentilis: “of the same clan or race”, surely a word consistent with all of Scripture (Amos 3:2, Matt. 15:24 etc.)." Second, the verse is not discussing individuals - singular - at all. Ethnos is races or nations, not individual "Gentiles." The subject here is nations, not individuals.

This pretzel theology is typical of the type of deception Scofield and his editors used: they twist scripture to fit their Zionist view. Unsuspecting judeo-christians, who only surface study scripture, if at all, don't realize they are being subtly deceived and manipulated by the numerous commentaries, footnotes and "helps" found throughout this widely used reference bible.

Mattew 25:31-46 reads:

³¹When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
³²And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
³³And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
³⁴Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
³⁵For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
³⁶Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
³⁷Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
³⁸When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
³⁹Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
⁴⁰And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

⁴²For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

⁴⁵Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
⁴⁶And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

³²And before him shall be gathered all nations:

The KJ translators had to translate ethnos in this verse as nations, as gentiles would not have made any sense. To do otherwise, like they so often did in other passages, would have been an obvious error. But that didn't stop Scofield from alleging, in his footnoted "helps" from leading the unsuspecting to believe the word ethnos means "Gentile." And that didn't stop the editors of the Scofield Reference bible from continuing the deception - they retained Scofield's footnotes in their aforementioned 1967 edition from which the above quote was taken.

What deception does Scofield, and his editors, who retained the copyright to the work that bears his name, put forth?

"The subjects of this judgment are "all nations," i.e. all Gentiles (Gr. ethne) then living on earth. Three classes of individuals are mentioned: (1) sheep, saved Gentiles, (2) goats, unsaved Gentiles, and (3) brethren, the people of Israel."

No where in Scripture are sheep referred to as "saved Gentiles." In fact, Scripture plainly states that the 12 Tribes of Israel are His sheep. See Psalm 95:7, 100:3; and

"Israel is a scattered sheep." Jeremiah 50:7;

"My sheep (Israel) wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them." Ezekiel 34:6;

"I will surely assemble, O Jacob, (Israel) all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men." Micah 2:12;

It was for these sheep, referred to in the Old Testament that Yahshua came to redeem and it was to these sheep that he sent His disciples: "But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Matthew 10:6.

A careful reading of the Matthew 25 passage will plainly show the objective reader that it will be the different races, or nations, that will be gathered together; "when the Son of man shall come in all his glory. He shall "separate them one (race) from another (race), as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats. He shall set the sheep on his right hand and the goats on the left."

Notice the passage does not say "believers and unbelievers." Don't allow cognitive dissonance to block from your mind what Scripture states here clear and concisely: When the Son of man returns he will judge the races or nations: not unbelievers who might have been saved, not unsaved "Gentiles" who could have been saved from everlasting punishment had they only "given their heart to Jesus," as Scofield and his editors would have you believe.

Scripture was written by Israelites, for Israelites, about Israelites and to Israelites, and no one else. Judeo-christians, like Scofield, the editoral committee of Oxford University Press and the rabid Zionist John Hagee, want others to believe that it is the Edomite jews who are Yahweh's Chosen and that redemption is for everyone. Redemption is clearly for the lost sheep of the house of Israel only.

Yahshua clearly and unequivocally stated to the Canaanite women, in the very same gospel of Matthew, only ten chapters earlier, that "I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." 15:24

It is those same lost sheep who are referred to in Matthew 25. Goats don't turn into sheep.

The other non-white, non-Adamic, non-Israelite mixed raced nations are not going to be converted, despite how many well meaning but otherwise foolish and purposely deceived missionaries waste their time, effort and their supporter's hard earned money trying to do the impossible: goats do not become sheep, tares do not become wheat and bad fish do not become good fish (Matthew 13:48).

Did you see that? "The wicked are among the just." Just like the tares are among the wheat and the bad fish are among the good fish. But in the end, they will be separated.

There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth because so many universalists believe that anyone and everyone can be a sheep, wheat and good fish.

Was Abraham or Moses a Jew?

Much confusion exists surrounding Abraham, Moses and the Jews. Much of that confusion exists because of the Scofield Reference Bible first published in 1909, used by many evangelical Christians in the US and elsewhere, for the last 100 years. Most all of the evangelical seminaries and other ‘fundamental’ bible colleges and university instructors and ‘pastors’ use Scofield’s Reference Bible and the Scofield notes included therein. For many, those notes are next to gospel. The most famous saying coming from those notes is, and I quote from my own copy, page 19 of the 1967 edition:

“It has invariably fared ill with those people who have persecuted the Jew – well with those who have protected him. For a nation to commit the sin of antisemitism, brings inevitable judgment.”

This quote is found in the foot notes referring to Genesis 12: 2, 3

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing. And I will bless those that bless thee, and curse them that curseth thee: and in thee shall all the earth be blessed.

This passage, Genesis 12:2,3, can not be referring to the Jews, as Scofield erroneously states.

Why not? Because the Jews, as we know them today, did not exist until some 300-500 hundred years after Moses, that is, in the time of King Solomon in 10th century BC.

Neither was Abraham a Jew. Abraham was the father of the Israelites, not the father of the Jews. Through Abraham’s son, Jacob, whom God renamed Israel, would God bless the nations. Jacob [aka Israel,] had 12 sons, 1. Asher, 2. Dan, 3. Gad, 4. Issachar, 5. Naphtali, 6. Reuben, 7. Simeon, 8. Zebulon, 9. Judah, and 10. Levi. The last two sons 11. Benjamin and 12. Joseph were the sons of Jacob through Rachel. Joseph’s two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh are included as sons of Jacob because Jacob adopted Manasseh and Ephraim as his own sons. [Genesis 48:1] You’ll notice there is no tribe of Joseph per se, but Ephraim and Manasseh instead or in addition to. So, we have the ten tribes from Leah, and two tribes from Rachel, Benjamin and Joseph, but Joseph's sons got the blessing instead of Joseph, making two more tribes or 12 tribes total.

The tribe of Judah was the tribe that later became, erroneously, known as ‘the Jews.’ The term ‘Jews’ is a nickname given to those who came from the tribe of Judah which resided in the southern kingdom of Israel. More accurately, those inhabitants who came from the region known as Judah. The northern kingdom of Israel was composed of the other 10 tribes of Israel, plus the members of the tribe of Levi, the priestly class, of which Moses was a part, scattered among both kingdoms, that is, southern and northern.


The Israelites did indeed become a nation back in the time of King David and King Solomon in the 10th century B.C., some 300 to 500 years after the time of Moses. Both Biblical and extra-biblical evidence suggests that the Kingdom of Israel extended from the Great River in Egypt - the Nile - to the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in what is modern day Iraq. After the reign of King Solomon, the nation of Israel split into two kingdoms: a northern kingdom and a southern kingdom. The southern kingdom consisted of the tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and the Levites dispersed among those tribes. The northern kingdom consisted of the tribes of Asher, Dan, Ephraim, Gad, Issachar, Manasseh, Naphtali, Reuben, Simeon, Zebulon, and the Levites dispersed among those tribes. The southern kingdom came to be associated with Judah, the dominant southern tribe. The northern kingdom came to be associated with Ephraim, the dominant northern tribe.

Only one tribe, the tribe of Judah, were ever referred to as Jews, [erroneously] and that not until the King James Bible translators in 1611. That single Old Testament reference is 2 Kings 16:6 and should be translated Judaite or a descendant of Jehudah (that is, Judah). The only people who should be properly called Jews [more accurately Judahites] are the descendants of the tribe of Judah.

Today, people may claim to be Jewish. They may adhere to the religion of Judaism, but they most likely are not from the tribe of Judah referred to in the Old Testament - the Torah - for the Jewish.
Jews descend from Cain/Esau/Edom not Jacob/Israel. Evidence for this fact is found in John 8:

Verse 33: "They (the jews, see verse 22) answered him, "We are Abraham's seed, (through Esau, not Jacob/Israel) and were never in bondage to any man."

If the Jews were "never in bondage to any man," then the cannot be the Israelites of the Old Testament, as the Israelites were in bondage to the Pharaoh that "knew not Joseph,;" and were taken into captivity by the Assyrians and the Babylonians.




Verse 44: (Christ speaking) "Ye are of (descend from) your father, the devil. " This can only be a reference to Cain, as Christ then says, "and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning ... a clear reference to Cain, offspring of the devil who murdered his half-brother, Able.

To answer the question at the title of this missive, Was Abraham or Moses a Jew? the only answer this writer could come up with, after admittedly being confused for almost 30 years, mostly due to the Scofield Reference Bible, is that no, neither Abraham or Moses were Jews. Abraham was a Hebrew, Moses an Israelite.

There are many so called Zionist Jews today who would like to continue the erroneous teachings of Cyrus Ingerson Scofield found in the notes of his reference bible. These notes promote the unconditional support of the nation of Israel today found among so many rabid Zionist Christians, such as those of the John Hagee cult. As expected, the heavily Jewish Wikipedia fails to mention many of the now well-known facts behind the origin of the Scofield Reference Bible and indeed behind Cyrus Scofield himself. Scofield was convicted of forgery and spent six months in jail, that is, C.I. Scoflied was a convicted criminal.
Scofield defrauded his mother-in-law out of $1300 dollars, a considerable sum in those days.
Scofield's reference work was financed by Samuel Untermeyer and others like him, known as the "Secret Six." Samuel Untermeyer, an attorney, was a dedicated communist, a 'Thought-theologist" who had a life long interest in and support for the International Zionist movement. Samuel Untermeyer was, of course, a Jew.
