I Thessalonians 5:20, 21

Do not despise expounding of scripture, but scrutinize all things. Hold fast that which is right.

Malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

- I prefer liberty with danger to peace with slavery.

Perilous Times Are Here

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 Timothy 3:1

Perilous - hard to take, hard to bear, troublesome, dangerous.

"2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves ...."

So many "resist the truth." So many are set against the truth, so many are opposed to the truth. (v. 8) They simply refuse to accept the truth.

We live in perilous times, yes? This morning, once again, I am weary of hearing of the troubling news, the problems, the evil all around us. Haughty, pride filled traitors in charge. (v.4)

What is the "secret" of surviving during these trouble filled times?

Scripture.

v. 16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for education in righteousness:

17 That the man of Yahweh may be perfect, (mature) thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Spend time in Scripture - reading, educating yourself, soaking in the Word of Yahweh. Soak in Yahweh's truth. More importantly, believe His Word, by making His Word your "course of life" by living it day-by-day.

Givers and Takers

Basically, two types of people exist: the Givers and Takers. You can usually spot a Taker because once a Taker realizes they can no longer take from you, you never hear from them again. They take as much and for as long as they can, and then forget about you. They don't contact you to see how you're doing, because they don't care how you're doing; they only seem to "care" about you when they think they can, in one way or another, get more from you.

Takers don't usually prosper, because a person who sows sparingly also reaps sparingly.

In contrast, a Giver doesn't want anything from others; a Giver simply wants to give - because a Giver knows there is more blessing in giving than receiving. (Acts 20:35) A Giver will contact you to see how you're doing, simply because a Giver actually does care about you, and not for what they can get from you.

A Giver is usually prosperous in many ways: cheerful, content, not selfish, has a positive attitude, is outward focused and generally a good person to be around. A Giver is a good person to have as a friend.

Which are you: A Taker or a Giver?
